Getting your car insured is not as easy as it seems. In this day and age of political correctness, insurance companies are not on the same wavelength. Their prices are based very much on statistics not on logic.
A young man may be a much better driver than his father but he will have to pay a far higher premium because of his age. And the old belief that women are worse drivers than men is not held up by statistics. Men, according to the statistics are much worse drivers and their insurance premium reflects this.
I wouldn’t like to say that all women are much better drivers than all men or vice versa as everyone has a story to prove the opposite:” my dad has never had an accident whereas my mum prangs the car all the time”. Or “I hate going in the car with my dad, I much prefer my mum to take me everywhere”. There have been many studies carried out on this subject and they tend to show that some men become quite reckless when they get behind the wheel.
Another area where men can be worse than women is when it comes to obeying the traffic rules and regulations. A woman is more likely to stop at a stop sign than a man and, once again, what you have to pay for your insurance policy reflects this.
A well-known company that carries out studies for insurance companies has published these figures: (these were based on a year long analysis of policyholders) they found out that men were fined about three and a half times more than a women for the following offences: not keeping the speed limit, not wearing their seat belts and reckless driving in general. And, as a result of this, they are likely to have more accidents and therefore the insurance companies wish to avoid too many expensive claims so they have to charge men more.
Being caught over the limit of permitted alcohol allowance whilst driving is more common amongst men than women. However, unfortunately, this trend is starting to change. Convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol (DIU) has gone down by about twenty percent amongst men whereas it has started to increase amongst women drivers, going up by nearly 15 percent amongst women.
At the moment insurance policies ‘http://www.simulation-assuranceauto.net/jeuneconducteur.html) are still more expensive for men but, if this trend continues, women may well find themselves paying as much as men. Males drivers are still more likely to get in their car after a few drinks than women are.
Other things which can determine how much your insurance policy will cost are how old you are, whether you are married or single, your accident history, how many kilometres you drive a year and, of course, the kind of car you are going to insure. With some many factors to take into account it is definitely worth shopping around and get the best deal that you can find.
